Ride Your Bike!

ACTION-PROJECT / 24th SEPTEMBER – 4th OCTOBER / CITYSPACE

Do you feel that getting around in Tallinn by bicycle is not very convenient? Would you like to take part in something new and exciting that combines green thinking, collaboration and high technology? If yes, come and take part in the project „Ride a Bicycle!“ which is organized by Plektrum and Allianss Architects.

„Ride a Bicycle“ combines the technology of m-positioning, media art and sustainable thinking in order to demonstrate where bicyclers actually ride in Tallinn and where bicycle roads are needed. By sending an SMS your anonymous route will be recorded on a digital map of Tallinn and if your friends also join there will already be enough information to prove to the city planners that bicyclers prefer other routes to Pirita.

The piece of art that is created from the movement of the bicyclers and resembles a ball of yarn can be seen on video screens in Forum center, Estonian Academy of Arts, Rotermann Quarter and Vabaduse Square – hence you can help create an interactive piece of art where movement works like a brush. Simply use your imagination to draw different shapes in the city space.

As a result of the project we will put together a report which will be presented to the city councillors and planners to create more bicycle roads where they are most needed!
